Restaurant review-Bay Leaf Oud Metha

Bay Leaf is an Indian restaurant serving North and South Indian food. We went there on a Thursday evening and were offered the option of their weekend buffet. After browsing the Menu and having a look at the spread laid out, we decided to go for the buffet.

The Venue
Located in Oud Metha opposite Lamcy plaza (They have another branch in Al Barsha near Lulu Hypermarket)
The interiors look inviting and are beautifully done with a fish tank for effect.
It's a family friendly restaurant.

The Food
The variety was a good mix of chicken, mutton and fish for the price of AED 49 pp.
Salads (3-4 types) were average. Starters in the form of chicken kebab and cocktail samosas were very good. Deep fried fish showed up in the form of rava style Kane fish and Karwar style jumbo prawns which were served by the waiter.

The crabs masala was tasty though the meat seemed a bit too soft perhaps due to being a tad overcooked. Prawn dishes-pepper and curry passed muster. Biryani was mushy and the chicken curry was disappointing with stiff pieces. Dal was just okay and so was the mutton curry. Rotis were served fresh from the tava. Plain rice completed the offerings.

Desserts were good-gulab jamuns, moong halwa, caramel custard and fruit salad.

Service
The waiters were helpful and attentive.

Rating **+
Overall a good place for a family meal. The variety is good and prices are reasonable. They also have a lunch buffet for AED 18 and weekend buffet breakfast for AED 8.
